The Alsace region ensures 5,000 jobs in the image sector, spread across 540 companies and independent operators.
There are also ca. 250 researchers working in the region who are attached to about 20 research groups and laboratories that span the entire range of image technologies.
Furthermore, there are almost 100 separate university and professional training courses relating to careers in images in Alsace.
There are 27 local televisions, two regional televisions (France 3 Alsace and Alsace20) et CanalC2, the web channel of the University of Strasbourg. This high regional density is a unique phenomenon in France, the other exception being the Lorraine region.
Finally, Strasbourg houses the European Audiovisual Observatory, ARTE (a European public-service cultural television channel), Eurimages (the fund for the co-production, distribution and exhibition of European cinematographic works), CIRCOM (Professional Association of Regional Public Service Television in Europe), EPRA (european platform of regulatory authorities) and etma (european television and media management academy).
